Excellent Book!!!!
This is an excellent book for Biztalk, Only suggestion is read the Biztalk 2006 white paper from the Microsoft website before you read this book. The authors have presented the content in a very easy to understand manner, without beating around the bush.........

Hats off to an excellent Biztalk Server 2006 reference! After many books that seem to rehash documentation, this book offers a fresher approach of giving BizTalk developers and admins a way to complete certain needed tasks without having to pour through mind-numbing chapters and still not find a solution to a needed problem.

Excellent textbook on E-commerce
I just received the new edition of Laudon and Traver's textbook on e-commerce and think its just great! I previously used the 2nd edition, which I also loved, and this new edition lives up to its predecessor. It contains all new and updated information and is extremely current. Its so well-written that it doesn't read like a textbook at all. I highly recommend it to anyone interesting in learning about e-commerce.

Good, but dated....
I have used this textbook for several years - while it is a good basic source of information, it badly needs updating and supplementation in several important areas: RFID is not mentioned; Mobile/hand set E-Commerce is covered at a surface level, Search Engine and major Portal marketing needs updating, and much of the data are 3+ years old - very old given the rapid changes taking place.

Read it in One Night
There aren't many eBay books that are entertaining but this one was. Lots of good stories to keep you interested, and when all is said and done there's a lot of good information here on creating auctions and really thinking like a seller. Somewhat self-promotional, buy hey the guy's a success story.

Enthusiasm is contagious, but Ginsberg has much to gain
This book is fun and well written, but it started to sound a lot like Network Marketing books I'd read in the past, and when I first sniffed the aroma of Ginsberg's intent to sell me ebay tools, I was a bit dismayed...okay, he's got more than one agenda. I agree that there is A LOT of repeition, but maybe that's a good thing.. .it sinks in. However, Ginsburg's writing gives the feeling sales are really hot on Ebay...and that if you put stuff upyou're very likely to sell it. Maybe, maybe not. Halfway through the book I went online to check the seller listings... as he suggests....and I was pretty mollified to see just how much goes UNSOLD on EBAY every day.Putting those stats side by side would be a bit sobering, I think. I love to buy on ebay, I've tried to sell a few things without much luck (except new books.)YOu have to spend more to sell more and I've been stingy.. so with his help, I plan to experiment a bit...but I have no doubts this is not as easy as his enthusiasm makes it sound. But when you're making millions, I guess it's easy to get enthusiastic, especially if that sells more books and more software.Now I'm looking for a book that says... yes, you can, BUT!:-)

Lots of information for the beginner.
There is a lot of information to get you excited about starting to buy/sell on Ebay.A tiny bit too many "stories", but excellent source of the basics.Just be sure to flag pages as you go to reference and your start up will be much easier.Just attended Ebay 101 class ($95) and much of the stuff I had already learned from this book.Definitely worth the price of the book. ... Great Textbook!!!

Great Tips, Good Read
I loved this book, and I've read lots of eBay books. Unlike some other writers these guys give you the straight story--the good with the bad--and don't make a lot of pie in the sky promises. This really keeps you centered, and realistic.I found some great tips for sourcing, which is a real challenge for all the sellers I talk to. There were also helpful tips on auction management, customer service, and selling internationally. The profiles of actual PowerSellers and many quotes and anecdotes really made this a good read.

My best eBay book investment to date.
As you can see from my Me page, User ID harleyglasses. I have read many eBay related books. This one tops my list for may reasons. Althought they are not powersellers, Brad and Deb don't pretend to have invented the information in their book, they start off by thanking all of the Powersellers and other professionals that contributed to the book. I might add that many are in the top 100 sellers on eBay and are members of PeSA, the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance. Brad and Deb have all the right connections :-)

Small Business 101
This book is a must read for anyone trying to run a small business.The concepts are right on.

The E-Myth Revisited CD
After being in business for over 21 years and finding myself in a changing market environment, this book helped me get back to basics. I had read the book many years ago and found it very helpful in taking my business to the next level. Once again, I wanted to grow my business and this CD helped me to reflect on what I was trying to accomplish. I highly recommend this CD for any entrepreneur.

Excellent book for the closely held business owner
I found several very helpful concepts in this book, which in my opinion make it well worth the cost.The author does promote the "franchise" model, but states that readers do not have to actually franchise their business, but they must think about their business as if they were going to franchise it.His point appears to be that what business owners must do is develop the business into a model that could, if desired, be replicated.This inherently requires a discipline about the business that will substantially improve it. ... Poorly written
Principles of Money, Banking, and Financial Markets contains a great deal of information regarding economics in the United States. As a student, I find it to be poorly written. The authors/editors make constant reference throughout the text to other sections of the text. For example, we will discuss this in depth in chapter seven, but for now, lets reflect our continued study from chapter two and three. By doing so, we will be better prepared to read chapter eleven when we get to it. If the authors / editors left out the references and just left the actual information needed to learn the material, the student would be able to follow the material and perhaps understand the topic better. I am strongly encouraging our economics department to seek another text for future semesters. ... Read more

Dazed & Confused
This text was required reading in an Internet marketing class I took.As an about-to-graduate business major, I felt the book often strayed off it's subject matter (e-commerce) and too often went into excrutiating detail about how businesses operate.Although I did not read every chapter, the sections I did read were repetitive and confusing to follow.For example, the concept of "catalog content management" is defined and discussed at least three times in one chapter. To say this book is thorough is an understatement.There are many sections that could have been deleted with no loss of meaning to the subject matter.The book is probably OK for beginning business majors who have yet to take lots of business classes.However, for those who are more familiar with business, you will probably find yourself skimming over this text looking for the information you want.If you're looking for a general overview of e-commerce, this is not the book for you.If you want more detail than you thought existed . . . well, I'm selling my copy in the used book section of this site :)

Useful and a good starting point
If you want to sell "stuff" this is a good place to start. All the information is here for opening a store. Follow the steps and your doors will be open. But maybe you don't want to sell "stuff" and have an idea you'd like to try out, if so I recommend "Internet Riches" by Scott Fox.
Great Book For the New Startup
This guy knows what he is talking about. I did exactly what he said when I was setting up my on-line business. The only thing was that this book didn't exist then and I had to learn it all one step at a time. Well, I guess that's the only way any of us learn anything.
To basic and not enough practical guidance
This book was clearly for beginners only.Although the book says "for dummies", you'd really HAVE to be a dummy to get much out of this.The book is simply too vague when talking about important internet concepts and doen't show you how to REALLY get an online business going.I personally would reccomend 33 Days to Profits by Yank Silverwww.33daystoprofits.com as a much better way to get PRACTICAL advice on starting an online business. ... Informative Book
This was a great book to get your mind started on thinking about opening a retail business.It doesn't focus solely on EBay.It also covers other small business avenues.
Perfect for beginners
This book is perfect for first time sellers and people that just need help finding direction.A lot of the information is general business knowledge but there is an occasional piece of helpful knowledge, even to experienced ebayers and amazoners.There is help with understanding taxes as well as creating yourself as a professional business.All around it's a decent read.

Don't bother buying this book
I am a high-tech marketing manager and an adjunct professor. From both the real-world business side as well as the academic side, I found this book to have little value. It spends page after page on general issues regarding Internet Marketing, and never gets to anything that could be used or implemented in the business world. Topics are explained without giving specific details as to how to implement the Internet Marketing idea. A very specific example is a description of viral marketing which the author refers to as "Creating a Wave." The short section goes on to say that free media, publicity and word of mouth are important. Of course they are. But how do you get them? I feel sorry for the students that are required to purchase this book. I guess they'll have to learn Internet Marketing on the job. I'm glad I only paid $10 for this book used instead of the $90+ list price.

Very good, but dated
This is a classic. One of the most serious earlier works on the topic. Professor Hanson brought a very solid theoretical framework to Web marketing. The book came at a time when we finally all wanted to get more rigouros with the "New Economy". I perused it again recently for a seminar I am giving, and it is still an excellent reference book. I would give four stars to an updated edition. I don't know if they are planning it.

A second edition is urgently needed
I used the first edition in one of my e-commerce courses. While the book migth still deserve 3 stars it is very much dated and my students had to do much additional research in the net to round most of the topics. ... Read more

Marketing Shock Treatment or Anarchist's Tech Handbook?
A fascinating business book that has the nerve to call virtually every business book fodder for the cat box.If you happen to communicate with people for a living, read this book and think hard about how the Internet continues to change the nature and style of business.It makes the definitive case for discarding business speak, hype-laden jargon and for finding relevant "stories" told by a heartfelt, less sanitized "voice".It's written by four smart, experienced guys, who may just be a little too angry, or too bored for their (and this book's) own good.Nonetheless, I really liked it.
Fascinating Ideas

Review
The first part of the book is very valuable. The patterns described are on average rather shallow and don't touch on the real issues. For the 'novice' however this is a very relevant book to read. I do advice to deepen understanding by looking at actual websites to see how leaders have implemented the different patterns. Much more to learn there.

Very handy reference book and checklist
While there are many books on the market that discuss patterns related to programming, architectural elements, etc., this is the first book I've seen that focuses on web patterns at the user interface level. The book is essentially an indexed, cross-referenced, best practices guide to building web pages that attract and keep customers. Or at least keep you from pissing them off. The authors have collected and summarized a great deal of HCI research (all listed in the resources section of the appendix) on web usability, so none of this stuff is made up--it's all based on time-proven, tested, and verified data about how people actually use the Internet (e.g., see Amazon, Yahoo!, Google, et. al.). A few of the patterns are no longer considered best practices, due to evolving standards (e.g., CSS) and increasing browser standards support. This is a very handy reference book, especially for an in-depth UI checklist.

Even if you don't have an Ebay business, this book is so informative for those of us who just don't understand the behind-the-business scene. Excellent Material On Search History & Google
Extremely readable book. Good history of early seach companies like GoTo and their business models, in addition to Google

Half the Battelle's book zips! Then journalism settles in
"The Search" by John Battelle is a casual and mostly entertaining walk through the last 10 or so years of digital search, mostly but not entirely centered around the phenomenon of Google.
History of Google, Not Search Engines
Though I'm coming to a review of The Search a year too late, I can explain why. I bought the book on its release, very excited to read some good journalism about the hottest business topic of the day. I was sure that Battelle, who had been chronically his progress on the book on his own blog, would deliver. Halfway through the book (in a matter of three days - a possible sign pointing to its lack of depth) I'm realizing that this is not the case.

Very Good
Like most good books dedicated to buying and selling on eBay this book fits that category nicely. It is aimed at the more serious seller and goes into several deep layers on techniques and strategies to make your activities lucrative and profitable. In all I like this book because it does contain a lot of useful information at whatever lengths you decide to take you're your eBay activities. If you want to really get out there in the trenches, this book will accommodate that ambition.

A real "love-hate" relationship......
That's exactly what this book offers. You'll absolutely love the information the author offers, but you'll also hate yourself for not adding it to your eBay reference library sooner. The information discussed, and revealed, in this book will make you think, explore and create what you have wanted all those months you finally decided to be a successful eBay seller.
