Like many of us running small businesses, I have no choice but to come up with ads, brochures, press releases, etc. myself.This book gives me a systematic way of doing so, and I credit it with saving me a lot of money in missteps.If you follow the guidelines and checklists carefully, you will probably produce advertising and promotional material that at the very least avoids being amateurish, and will probably sell some products.I like that it concisely gives an overview over each of the areas of advertising and promotion.It explains insider terms without being condescending.Any Gripes?If I could afford the "test" runs of 5000 mailing pieces before I made my "real" mailing of many times that, I wouldn't be reading this book now would I?!But I am probably making excuses for not following their advice on testing advertising, and would be better off if I followed it.The book has been a great help in building my business, and I consult it frequently.

Basically what this book is about is creating an advertising solution to fit your web business' needs.Not only does it give you the pro's and con's of different web-based techniques, but gives some nice examples.The book is easy reading with a lot of graphics to reinforce the text and is nicely laid out.I came up a solution for my site in less than a half hour.At the reduce price offered by Amazon, this book was well worth the buy.

I thought that this book had many great ideas for great pictures. Many made very good sense.

As a some time seller on eBay I've come to realize that my photos are as important, if not more impotant than my auction description. I guess the reason I'm not as enamoured with this book than the other reviewers of this book is that right off the top you are told not to read through this book, but to look for specific topics that will help solve your problems. How am I to learn a new trick/tip if I skip it because I don't think it applies to me? It has good info info, I just wish it was a better read and more substantial. I have several books on photography for eBay, and this is far from the worst, but it could have been outstanding. Personally I think "eBay Photos That Sell" by Dan Gookin is a better book for the non-professional.

Written for amateurs who know the importance of placing effective photos of their products on eBay, but who don't have the time or equipment to borrow into commercial photography. Mr. March's book makes it easy to learn several techniques that are essential to putting high impact, crisp photos on eBay. For example how to focus on your product with a consumer auto-focus camera, which can be frustrating without a manual focusing ring. Robert G. Allen is a notorious and relentless internet spammer.If you should happen to somehow end up on one of his email lists like I did, he will send you several junk emails a day.Unsubscribing doesn't work, and trying to block the sender's domain is useless because the emails are sent from a different domain every time.The funny part is that the emails aren't even coded properly.They always show up as just a bunch of html code.Would you really take internet money-making advice from a guy who can't even code html properly?Anyway, his spamming practices are completely illegal and it's only a matter of time before the law catches up with him.But that shouldn't come as any surprise considering that mister Allen has been in trouble with the law before.He's had several run-ins with the IRS, lawsuits against him, and a chapter 7 bankruptcy.I would also stay away from his Nothing Down real estate methods.Many of those practices are illegal, and the president of the Nothing Down club in Atlanta wound up in federal prison because of it.For more info on Allen, visit johntreed dottcomm, click on Real Estate Investing, then click Real Estate Guru Ratings.Bottom line, don't trust this guy and don't buy his books. This text was required reading in an Internet marketing class I took.As an about-to-graduate business major, I felt the book often strayed off it's subject matter (e-commerce) and too often went into excrutiating detail about how businesses operate.Although I did not read every chapter, the sections I did read were repetitive and confusing to follow.For example, the concept of "catalog content management" is defined and discussed at least three times in one chapter. To say this book is thorough is an understatement.There are many sections that could have been deleted with no loss of meaning to the subject matter.The book is probably OK for beginning business majors who have yet to take lots of business classes.However, for those who are more familiar with business, you will probably find yourself skimming over this text looking for the information you want.If you're looking for a general overview of e-commerce, this is not the book for you.If you want more detail than you thought existed . . . well, I'm selling my copy in the used book section of this site :)
