1-0 out of 5 stars Neither a book for the beginner or advanced
Im a beginner at DW3. I get lost reading this book. It doesnt explain enough and I find myself using the builtin Help tutorials and user guide when the book itself doesnt give any step by step instruction. For example, the book will tell you about a feature but doesnt tells you where to find and click that particular menu, etc.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best book in the Teach Yourself in 24hours series
I must admit that I was a little bit dissappointed with this effort after being pleasantly surprised when i bought myself a copy of teach yourself frontpage2000 in 24hours which was a great book. I had difficulty in defining sites following the instructions listed in this book, I ended up using the instructions from the manual that came from the software and found that worked. 4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it says!
Very good book. Teaches you Dreamweaver step-by-step. That's what it issupposed to do, and it does it well.It has extra tips to show you thisand that. As an intermediate self-taught Dreamweaver user, I really didfind this book helpful. Showing me exactly how and why things work as theydo. Things I had to try to figure out on my own, beforehand. As a NEWDreamweaver user, this book would have been invaluable.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a must for any questionable dreamweaver novice.
I did not know anything about dreamweaver before I went through this book. The Chapters and lessons are clearly explained and examples are superb. This is one of the best HOT books I've ever bought. I highly recommend it to any dreamweaver novice.

4-0 out of 5 stars this book saved my hide
I unexpectedly got a web freelance job, with short notice and no knowledge of the software. This book very quickly taught me all the basics and let mekeep that job. I think the hands-on aspect made all of the difference. Theproblem with most books is that it's difficult, unless you have a realproject to work on, to really comprehend the book. And if you have a"real project," chances are it's too late to learn everything youneed to know to get the job done. That's why this book is so good, thereare a bunch of pre-created files to work with. Another great thing is thatthe book is not strictly linear--if you skip a chapter that's too basic, the tutorial will still work in the other ones. You won't be punished fornot going through every tedious little step, like in other tutorialbooks.5-0 out of 5 stars dreamweaver 2, hot hands on training
it is damn good training book, suggetsted for beginner. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars based on its Intended Purpose
I found this book in a bargain bin and figured what the heck, and I have yet to need another book on the program. It does not cover topics any more advanced than customizing menus, but it does make "short order" of the programs most often used features.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incomplete, no support, can't find the author.
I can't say that I've finished the book because it's INCOMPLETE! There are many references in the book to a "companion web site," but it doesn't exist! Actually, the site is there, but none of the content that the book refers to. It's either "coming soon" or "under construction." I've tried called the publishing company twice (NOT toll-free, and long hold times) only to receive a response of "we'll check into it." The e-mail address in the book is also incorrect--it bounced back! Finally, I tried to contact the owner of the web site, but the phone number had been disconnected! The "company" the site is owned by doesn't have it's own web site and/or can't be found in the Yellow Pages. I can't believe a book that was published so long ago, with an incomplete web site, is still on the shelves selling at full price. I wonder how this even got past the editors! ONE STAR: Because the companion web site should have been finished by now. What an embarrassment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Concise, clear, and geared toward the intermediate user
This is the 3rd book I've read on Dreamweaver, and so far the best. However, it's *not* for beginners! No tutorials that walk you through lessons are to be found here. It's more of a reference book, but I read it straight through and highlighted the useful tidbits.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I may be weird, but I like this book!
I have designing pages for years, and I am forced to teach college students Dreamweaver.I picked up this book, skipped the beginners section and jumped right into the Advanced section (javascript and animation).Andi did not have any problems!3-0 out of 5 stars I only bought it because version 3 wasn't out.
The book goes through the basics of Dreamweaver. The problem was that they needed to publish the Dreamweaver 3 book sooner because I was stuck buying this version. The book does teach alot of tricks and how to use the toolsneeded. Pay attention to the javascript behaviors that are included in theDreamweaver that the book teaches. You can get everything in the book at theMacromedia site though. It's a good book for beginners!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the free tutorial...
I agree; this book is not nearly as good as the free tutorial available on-line. Save your money. ... Read more
