2-0 out of 5 stars Almost useless
I won a PocketPC recently, which I have fallen in love with. The first day I had it, I looked at a few books and chose this one. Inside the cover, it had a date of 2001, not 2000, so it seemed newer than most of the other books I found. Apparently, 2001 is a reprint date, as the majority of the info is old and useless.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide to the Pocket PC
Your Pocket PC likely did not come with adequate information about how to use it, whether in print or on the CD-ROM.This book comes to the rescue.Unlike the other Pocket PC book I bought ("How to Do Everything with Pocket PC and Handheld PC"), this book is written expressly for the Pocket PC and the author never mistakenly uses the technically correct but politically incorrect "WinCE" name. This shows he knows who his audience is.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pocket PC guidebook
This is not your typical 'for Dummies' book that is filled with fluff, but rather an excellent in-depth guide to using Pocket PCs. The author not only provides an intelligent introduction to handhelds, but also fills his book with countless valuable tips on getting the most out of the Pocket PC platform. I found I began highlighting and dog-earing page after page of useful info. My only criticism is that the book doesn't include an ereader version of the book! Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book really taught me about Win CE.I would reccomend it
it was well thought out and answered all the questions I wanted to know about the os.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This book provides a good description of Windows CE 1.0, as well as a tantalizing look "under the hood".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!Found the book extremely useful.
Robert O' Hara has truely done it with this book. The depth of information countered with the simplicity of explanations results in a book that is both a great learning tool for the novice as well as a useful reference work for the experienced user. There are a number of things within the book that lead one to a thorough understanding of the Windows CE operating systems and accompanying applications.Throughout the book there are shortcuts, tips, and explainations of the operating systems.Step-by-step instructions provide a useful guide for newcomers, while advanced topics are included for the more technically astute. Most enjoyable is including of the numerous easter-eggs within the Windows CE operating systems and applications. These are great to show friends and family when they ask, "So, just what does that $600 organizer do anyway?"I found this book useful in both learning the operating more thoroughly as well as developing an understanding of the systems shortcomings and features.I only hope he writes another one for Windows CE 2.0 that's as thorough and well written as this one. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Inconsistent, wrong examples - Pay Attention!
I bought this book not knowing a lick of Win32 API programming, so I had to take a crash course in Win32 programming first, as the book starts off assuming you know the API.Thankfully, it leaves MFC and ATL to the lastchapter and focuses solely on C and the API.3-0 out of 5 stars Non beginners book
If you are an absolute beginner in Windows CE programming you will not find answers to your questions in it. You need a lot of skills to read it through. Sample code is excellent: very short, useful and IT WORKS!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good general WinCE book - authors are well-respected
