5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
Wow! This series has really improved since the 2000 version . . . and it is in color! (This series is for the version 2002 programs, which are part of Office XP - which replaces the Office 2000 programs.) I wasn't really planning to buy any of these books this time around until I looked a little more closely at them. They are very nice! So I bought them all!5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent source on Outlook from the perspective of home
An excellent overview of major features of Outlook 2002.Since Outlook is the part of Office package on the first place, the perspective of home user is dominant. Coverege is comprehensive and author's ability to explain concepts in ituitive and easily understandable manner is evident.

1-0 out of 5 stars Missing key information
This book absolutely drops the ball on the attachment blocking and programming restriction settings built into Outlook 2002. No coverage. Given these are on by default (and can't easily be changed by users using Outlook on Exchange), this is a huge gaping hole in coverage. After buying this book, and realizing it didn't cover this, I checked a couple of other big books on Outlook and see they do cover it. I haven't reviewed them closely enough to recommend another book though.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars task-oriented, well-written
If you are looking for a task-oriented, well-written book that covers every aspect of Microsoft's Outlook 2003, this is the book for you. The author is clearly comfortable with technical material but is able to communicate this material to a non-technical reader. The book is very thorough and provides notes, cautions, tips, and shortcuts throughout. Lots of useful information such as dealing with junk e-mail and spam. I recommend this book highly.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth buying
This book doesn't offer much that you can't find in Outlook's Help system, it's poorly organized, and it isn't written well. You can almost hear the sleepy author's fingers clattering on the keyboard as he hurries to meet his deadline and get this book finished. Whether readers can understand a word didn't rank high on the author's priority list. Nothing is explained well. Nowhere does he give you any advice about how to make Outlook easier to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference!
I took the 3 basic Developer courses one year ago, onsite at an authorized Lotus training center.Lotus Notes is only one of the many databases I support, so I have not been able to use what I learned in the classes on a daily, or even weekly, basis.I consulted this book twice today, and found exactly what I was searching for both times immediately by using the index. Thanks to the concise index, I did not have to read through pages of other topics to find my solutions. The total cost of the book was justified in less than 10 minutes!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the Domino Designer novice
I've spent my time developing SQL and Access databases, so when it came to Domino, I was apprehensive at first. With the help of this book, halfway through it, I developed a functional database to contain work orders. I've received many compliments on it, and I've the book to thank. Many of the things used in it I learned directly from the book. If you are looking for advanced web development, this is not the book you need. If you are looking for a good "feet in the pool" starter, I recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars ACT! 2000 a must for every user.
ACT! 2000 the software is an excellent product and I use it 2 or three times a day.ACT! 2000 for Dummies is extremely helpful and very entertaining.I learned alot from ACT! for Dummies. The first version of ACT! for Dummies was well written and ACT! 2000 for Dummies is even better.I bought it three or four years ago when I upgraded my software to ACT! 2000 and I still keep it handy and refer to it for all my ACT questions and how too's.I have also told everyone who uses ACT! 2000 to buy their own copy and keep it close by.TG

3-0 out of 5 stars ACT! 2000 For Windows For Dummies vs. Act! 2000 User's Guide
I found this manual no more helpful than the User's Guide provided with ACT! 2000.In my opinion, this "Dummies" book is written on the same level as the User's Guide, and really does not speak to the "dummy" or new user any more clearly or understandably than the ACT! 2000 User's Guide does.In fact, I found Mr. Mayer's book confusing at times and would turn to the User's Guide for clarification.I wish I had read some of the Amazon reviews before purchasing Mr. Mayer's book.Had I known what I know now, I would not have purchased ACT! 2000 For Windows For Dummies but would have saved myself time, study, and money by simply using the ACT! 2000 User's Guide.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This book covers a large amount of information very quickly. As a more advanced user of ACT!, I found most of the topics too superficial. However, my users frequently find the book very helpful in assisting themwith basic tasks in ACT!.I found the constant references to the author'sclasses and other books somewhat annoying after the first several. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Review from an instructor
As a teacher both in the public schools and as a corporate contractor, I could not advocate this book higher. It has become the course book of choice for my students and is better suited for starting computer users and intermediate level users than ANYTHING else I have found.5-0 out of 5 stars Good Place to Start
This is a very good book for novice to beginners who know how to use only the obvious features. This book introduces you to a good foundation of details. As the level of the book is Beginner to Intermediate,as stated on the book itself, you will need to read another book on Office 2000 for Intermediate to Advance skills. But this is a great place to start.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teach Yourself Microsoft Office 2000 Visually
I feel that this book is the best book for learning Office 2000. It is easy, but has a lot of information. I have never seen a better computer book, and I hope they make more like this. This book is for people who knowolder Office programs and those who are trying Office for the first time.If you really want to learn it fast and easlly try this book. This bookdoes not waste words or your time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book
It is a great book if you have never used Outlook and you don't need the software on your computer.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Book
The colorful comic book cover of this book quickly grabbed my attention. The content of the book really doesn't have much to do with the comic character theme. The book is broken up into small lessons, which is good for someone like myself with a short attention span. This book is very easy to read and very well written, yet it is filled with a lot of humorous examples. I never thought I could enjoy reading a book about Microsoft Outlook, but I've got to admit this one made me laugh out loud at times.
4-0 out of 5 stars Much improved spam filtering? Perhaps
For millions of users, Microsoft Outlook is how they read and write email. This book explains in easy steps the many features endowed in it. Each chapter is divided into short lessons, with a lesson typically spanning no more than 3 pages. The intent is that a lesson is a very bite-sized set of steps that you can readily comprehend in a few minutes. Regular readers of O'Reilly books will recognise this as similar to their Hacks series in format. Though the Custom Guide books are more vivid, shall we say?

3-0 out of 5 stars Not real thrilled with the audience selection for this title...
Microsoft's SharePoint software is currently attracting a lot of attention, so I thought it would be interesting to do some reviews of books touching on that subject.SharePoint User's Guide by Infusion Development Corporation was one of my early choices for review, and it's a book with a somewhat confusing target audience.
3-0 out of 5 stars Sharepoint User's Guide
This was a difficult book to wade through and was not user friendly. The last several chapters were useful.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good enough introduction to SharePoint
Ordinarily, a computer book starts by introducing what the topic is, in this case SharePoint. However, Chapter 1 of this book did it insufficiently. Past Chapter 2, I still did not know exactly what Sharepoint was. The authors mumbled something about collaboration, discussion, HTML pages, etc. Funnily, the last chapter covers SharePoint installation. Shouldn't be in Chapter 1 so the reader can easily follow?

4-0 out of 5 stars Basic, well written
This is a basic but systematic book describing the basics of Act 2005. Do not expect too much, but the style and the practical examples are much better than the product manual. You are motivated to do certain tasks and while you perform the exercise, you learn the philosophy of the software. What I really missed is the in-depth description of the software, but as I mentioned, this is a basic book, as an introduction.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not "entirely" necessary...
Though it does provide a good step by step sequence of performing specific tasks, I found I rarely used the book. After following the interactive training provided w/ ACT! 2005, most things were self explanatory and after I fumbled my way through it once, it was a piece of cake!
2-0 out of 5 stars Great for a new user but not for the experienced user!
I'm a long time user of ACT, and I was looking for a book that would provide guidance on more advanced topics, such as generating reports, synching, etc. This book would be great for the novice user of ACT 2005, but it doesn't contain much coverage of more advanced topics. The book is well written, logically arranged and quite readable, but you can probably get everything that it contains from the user's manual. If you are an experienced user, keep looking! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not really a troubleshooting book
I bought this book because the name was appealing and I thought it would be useful for my job on a help desk. There are more pictures than real information and I've found much better troubleshooting tips on newsgroups and in other books. The concept of this book is good and I want to like it, but it just doesn't deliver. Perhaps it would be useful for someone with little Microsoft Office experience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This a reference book and not for beginners
If you are new to LotusScript do not buy this book. This is a reference book for LotusScript and Java classes and a very good one at that. The developer help files can be confusing at times and it always helps to have a reference book near you.5-0 out of 5 stars Only LotusScript Reference you'll need
I bought this book originally expecting a full reference to Lotus and at first was a little dissappointed that it only covered LotusScript and Java. After reading it, now it is the only reference I use for LotusScript.Itoo have several other books, but none give the information and detaill inan easy to read format like this book. Anything you want to know aboutClasses, Methods, Properties, Events, and new R5 LotusScript features arecovered in this book in detail with good examples. I also like how eachclass has it's own contents page giving page numbers for all of theassosiated Properties, Methods, and Events for QUICK reference.

4-0 out of 5 stars Practical Handbook for Outlook Support
I'm very impressed with this book. It is well-written, with good examples and clear graphics. I purchased it for help creating custom Outlook forms. The chapters on form design answered all my questions. I had looked in vain on the web for instructions that were basic enough for a non-programmer to follow yet included samples of code and formulas. I found that in this book. It is a practical and useful volume for anyone who is called on to support or administer Outlook.

2-0 out of 5 stars New User.Advanced Needs.Little Help.
I am a new user to Outlook 2000.I am an advanced ACT! user.My new job requires that I use Outlook 2000.After reviewing many books online I bought the Outlook 2000 Bible.WHAT A COMPLETE LET DOWN AND WASTE OF MONEY.I can't return it because in my initial enthusiasm I highlighted in the book. The "Customizing Outlook 2000" Chapter 16 section is terrible.Nothing advanced at all. Finally, the attached CD is a bust.My advise... KEEP LOOKING!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best reference for non-network Outlook 2000 users
This is a superb reference for those who use Outlook 2000 on a non-network platform; most of the books out now focus on using Outlook 2000 as a client for Microsoft Exchange. This book, however, concentrates on exploring the functionality of the program as a stand-alone and internet-enhanced app. If you already use Outlook, you'll learn some great new tricks. If you're new to the program, this is a great place to start. The book also includes information for those who *do* use it as an Exchange client, so it should fit the bill for any but network administrators. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars yea, this one isn't for dummies!
I found the Effective Executive's Guide to Microsoft Outlook 2002 to be informative and useful.I really liked the tone, as I get irritated quickly with guides that hold your hand through each action, assuming you have no knowledge whatsoever. This guide offers interesting tips, has a nice layout, and is reasonably priced as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars For readers tired of Dummies, Idiots and Step By Step books
This book on Outlook 2002 is a good reference for anybody who's using Outlook 2002--and especially for corporate users. The book emphasizes the email applications of Outlook, as the list of chapters below show, but it also covers the other types of work you can do:Read more
