This book will keep your eyes focused on the goal of getting your Network+ certification!Mike Myers writes in a way everyone can understand, and has many examples and pictures.The book does look big, and it is.Just remember that all the pictures take up about half the book (good thing to, some of it would be hard to understand if they weren't in there!).Go and get this book!

I was very happy with this book
I used this book as my main study guide for the Network+ exam, along with his Network+ Passport.Mike says that you will pass the exam, not that you will score a 900 on it, and I think this is probably accurate.I studied this book, taking notes and reviewing as well as using the practice exams.I also bought my test voucher from Mike's company which gave me additional practice exams.I passed with a decent score (763)and most of the material I saw on the test was in the All In One book.
it's a good place to start, but not all-inclusive
i have my A+ cert but i did not have any experience with networking prior to reading this book. i passed with a 715, so for newbies like me, it can be done.

Not as good as they want you to think
For general information it's ok. The information is ill-organized and when working through the problems at the back of each chapter, many of the answers are not actually provided in the book -- you are expected to research further in referened material in the chapter. When an instructor has to give the answers to problems that are in the back of the chapter because the chapter does not actually have enough information to solve the problem, there is a problem with the book.
Overly wordy
Oh my gosh this book is sooooo wordy. It's 800 pages long, yet it probably could be condensed to less than 600, all without the loss of clarity. The authors explain everything to an excruciating degree, and often times things are repeated over and over again. For example, on page 194, a sentence reads:

I found this book the best reference yet that I have come across to give a person a great deal of knowledge in a rapid and easy to understand format. It deals with internet protocols and other networking principles-- it is a great book to start with.

Great book - easy to read, informative
I really liked this SEO book. It is easy to read, entertaining (which isn't easy to do for SEO) and is laid out in a easy to follow, logical order. If you are a beginner or a professional this book will help you in your opimization efforts.

Written only for the Marketing Department
If you're looking for actual instructions on how to improve your Web site's code or design to be better optimized for search engines, then don't read this book. This book is written for the Marketing Department of a middle- to large-size company. It should be called, "Search Engine Optimization; An hour of paperwork a day." It's all about how to track campaigns and other esoteric tasks that have no value for someone actually doing the work.

Great for amateurs and professionals as well.
I have never purchased any book on SEO before as I assumed the content would be too dated.

If only all books were as clear as this one!!!
This is a great book for anyone involved in software development. Use cases are not only a great tool for designers they are a great tool for anybody involved in the development process.
Good Investment
Alistair Cockburn has a gift for writing. His explanations are very easy to follow and the writing style makes it seem like you are reading novel. I tried a number of books on use cases and this is by far the best. It contains a number of different styles. I used this book as a basis for developing standards for the company I work for.
not confined to UML diagrams
Whatever your programming methodology, if you are involved in the design or reengineering of a project, then use cases are a vital starting point. Cockburn explains how these can serve as an important part of the boundary between the programmers and the non-programmer users and management. Given that the two (or three) groups often have quite different backgrounds, you can see the need for accurate and comprehensive examples.

A really Solid Quality Book
This book and its companion "T-SQL Programming" are two great books, they are not for beginners and in some part requires a full immersion, they are not an easy reading... but at the end you you will have a really deep understanding of the topics they covers. I've found really useful to read it two times, the second one I've noticed that a lot of sentences takes a new light after you've a whole overview of all the topics. A definitively must have. Both !

If you are only going to buy one SQL Server book...
There are occassions when I like to believe that I can write really smart SQL queries. Then I see the stuff that Itzik Ben-Gan and Steve Kass (the Tecknial Rewiwer of this book) come up with, and I crawl back under my rock.

Not adequate for the Access certification test.
This book appears to be fine for a general review of the Access topics, but is lacking in detail for the test. I found that the book alone would have been totally inadequate for the certification test. The MeasureUp online training had value, but it too was limited. Access 2003 has a sorting and grouping icon, yet what I found was that I needed to use Access 2000 procedures for this and other MeasureUp tasks, without the newer icons. The MeasureUp study guide was well-presented, yet I faced a culture shock on test day. The questions were formatted differently, the questions significantly different than the way MeasureUp presented them. MeasureUp wrote their questions in a clearer manner than the test, but the problem is that I needed to see the questions as they would be on the test. The text is essentially a step-by-step book, not of test-taking value. I will keep it as a reference, which was not my reason for purchasing it. The MeasureUp training was great, but not related to the actual test.

A useful guide
This is very much a study guide and is not really aimed at the inexperienced user.It presumes a lot of knowledge and focuses on preparation of the exam elements only.If you need in depth knowledge then there are better books (QUE, other Microsoft products).As a refresher for the exams I have found it to be excellent.It can highlight the areas needing more study and its exercises get your mindset into the MOS exam process.I would recommend it as part of your arsenal in preparing for the MOS exams.

Use EIP as a guide
This book was exactly what I was looking for to help me scope an integration solution.For me, patterns help solve, better understand, and therefore, better communicate the technical issues of a complex software project; an enterprise integration project is complex.I was better able to communicate and estimate the scope of the project using EIPs as a GUIDE.The pattern icons (and Viso stencils found on the links page of the web site) saved me tremendous amounts time and narrative in the design documents.
Excellent reference book for EAI, Messaging and Integration projects
This book joins my elite patterns book collection which include GoF, Core J2EE Patterns, Core Security Patterns and Refactoring to Patterns. And this book gonna be my first reference for all Integration projects.
SW Integration Engineering at its best
Deserves to take place in the great line up of GoF, POSA1, POSA2, EAA, Core Security Patterns (other "patterns" books omitted intentionally).

Teach Yourself, YES! You Can Do It!
I took a Jr. College Class on Final Cut Pro 5 and this was the textbook.The teacher would lecture for an hour and the rest of the time, we worked through the lessons in the book.At the end of the class, we were all able to produce our own short videos.This book is very step-by-step and to be honest, I think that I got more out of going through the lessons than listening to the teacher.I suggest Rick Young's "The Focal Easy Guide to Final Cut Pro 5 for new users and professionals" as a companion book.They both say the same thing, but in different ways.The lessons took me a little longer than the time indicated in each lesson frontpiece, but I sure learned a whole lot about making movies and FCP!

Please,,,,,,display that book's pages no 23,& 84 .book name:management information system(5th edition). Comprehensive but pricey
The text covers the topic with ample examples and diagrams, plus cases short and long.The level of detail is appropriate for a graduate level course.The book is too ...The authors could eliminate the chapter on the office environment. They should condense the chapters on questionnaires and system presentation.Another solution: put the lengthy end-of-chapter case material on a CD; it is doubtful that all of it is used in any course.Perhaps the authors have too much clout to be edited.

The Kendalls have definitely created a comprehensive book on systems analysis. Virtually every aspect is covered here, and in plenty of detail. There are plenty of review questions and problems, hypothetical consulting situations, an ongoing case-study, and even an associated web-based case study.Read more

Great for beginners
I'm a beginning programmer and found this book immensely helpful.Other titles I sampled included Java Head-on, Big Java, and Ivor Horton's Java, and they just weren't as clear and straightforward as this book.The order of topics is the best I've seen, and the chapter on classes covers everything you need to know to get started.

Simply the best Introduction into a programing language book there is
I have been programming for several years, but not professionally. Modula-2, C, C++, Fortran, APL and Jave and have read intro books into all of these progamming languages, but there was either too little or the clarity was not there. This book explains things very well and has a very good set of examples. It also goes into things a little deeper so even if you are not a beginner, you can still get what you want out of it.

excellent for a beginner
The book excels at teaching a reader new to either Java or any programming language. Savitch goes comprehensively through the core classes that come with the standard Java distribution. Also, he uses Java 5, which is the latest major release of Java. If you are going to start learning Java, you might as well start here, instead of using a text that deals with earlier versions.

Far and away the best book for everyone!
This is simply the best HTML and CSS book.It has basically everything you need to know, with easy-to-find, easy-to-understand, and concise descriptions.It it not "web for dummies," rather, it is a very sophisticated and realistic approach to HTML and CSS, without a lot of hype or self-promotion.If you want to hear people wax poetical about the "EM" unit, you can get the book by Lie & Bos, but I think Castro's book is far more useful.She gives links to many web sites to help with more advanced stuff (Javascript, etc.), which is nice, but the book itself is incredibly comprehensive.And the layout of the book is a model for all instructional texts.A winner!

For Reference or for learning
Elizabeth Castro has been writing Visual Quickstart Guides to HTML and web design in an easy to understand manner. Now she provides resources for those who would be interested in web design that will create sites that are usable for years to come. Since I first picked up the fourth edition of this book, I have been hooked on the series, because its explanations are written on a level for the average person. The organization allows the reader to move at their own pace and easily refer back to topics that they want to refresh.
Coding
This book was a real help to me when I first became addicted to coding. The pictures are quite helpful, or at least more helpful than long explanations, and Elizabeth Castro is a fabulous writer. I learned so much that I went on to learn many other programming and coding languages with ease. You don't need to have any experience to use this book, it explains everything. Visual QuickStart Guide's are the best type in the market, cheap and easy to understand. So if you are itching to learn another computer language, I suggest checking them out! ... Read more

This book touches many aspects of the C++ programming language. Even you are an experienced engineer, you can learn a lot of things from this book and write more solid code. I regret that I didn't buy and read this book sooner.

THE book next to Bjarne's for C++
A really good book where there is something to learn in every other example and chapter even if you consider yourself a master C++ programmer with years of experience.Besides reading the book, I happened to attend Scott's live training on Design patterns and Embedded C++ both of which were great experience.

Worth reading if you need to learn more about type, layout grids, and popular fonts of the past decade.

Simple, Clear, and Logical
This book is possibly the best design education text I've seen. Everything is kept simple, and clear. Ellen Lupton's categorizing of typeface styles, for example, is logical and all inclusive, yet still a simple breakdown of the vast variety of typefaces. She is easier to understand than Robert Bringhurst in "The Elements of Typographic Style," something crucial to any budding designer. This book will serve you well. ... Read more

Not flawless, but a very good introductory guide to Pro-E Wildfire 2.0
The author has done a very good job in writing this introductory guide to Wildfire 2.0. As noted by the other reviewer, this is a great learning tool for the beginner and is quite detailed. There are very few mistakes (only the occasional figure no. & scale factor typos as well as an incomplete sentence or two). If the reader only works the tutorials and successfully solves the problems at the end of the chapter, he will at least be competent at 3-D part modeling, 2-D drawing, and generating assemblies. However, I do have a few minor quips to note. There is no information on how to recover from a mistake, which can leave the novice user quite frustrated. In addition, there is no coverage of how to repair a failed feature, which cannot be completed, or change(modify) a feature in an existing model. No example of top down modeling (i.e. drawing parts in an assembly first). No coverage of sheet metal modeling (the author may not have considered this basic, but I would). Pro-E is not intuitive. However, once the reader becomes comfortable with a few of the commands, the overall logic of how the program operates seems to make more sense. That said, some operations are very complicated, including copying a feature from one orientation to another orientation. Although it would be no simple task, this reader would like to see a listing of all of the commands and their options with descriptions, where appropriate. Perhaps a new book idea for Mr. Tickoo? Finally, for the novice, patience and experimenting are the keys to successfully learning a new computer application. Good luck!

Very helpful and easy-to-follow methodology
Sham Tickoo writes from the standpoint of someone very familiar with the subject as he apparently is. The book represents a very easy-to-follow, step-by-step methodology, which is suitable even for complete beginners. The author covers the theory first and then illustrates it with appropriate tutorials. At the end of each chapter there are self-evaluation questions and exercises.
Perfect for a novice
I started learning proe wildfire when my project manager asked me to do so because I had to work on a project. With some solid modeling experience and this book in hand, I started doing it. I must say that it is because of this book that I was able to learn the software so easily and must importantly, I did not take much time. The chapters in this book are perfectly arranged. Good intro to Ubuntu the Linux Distro, GREAT intro to community
I received 3 Ubuntu titles and thought it might be useful to compare them.Ubuntu is a fairly recent Linux distribution that strives to be usable out of the box, with strong support.It has deep pockets and a thriving community behind it.I admire a lot of the design choices that went into Ubuntu, such as limiting the use of the all-powerful root account, which can get people into trouble.The bare-bones server install is the cleanest Linux server I've seen - *no* open ports, minimal services.Just enough to log in at a console and then install what you want.On the other hand, if you want a LAMP server (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP - the most popular combination on the internet), that's a one button install!Brilliant!
If Ubuntu sounds good, then this book is for you.
The Official Ubuntu Book, brought to you by a number of folks who actively write or document Ubuntu and is a great book for those looking to move from OSX or Windows to Ubuntu. If you're a novice or intermediate Ubuntu user then this book is for you. If you consider yourself an expert, you can still pick up a few things but most of what you'll find here, you'll already know.
Great Book- so stop apologizing!
This is a great place to start for anyone considering making the move to Ubuntu and open source software. Thr first chapter gives a quick recap of the what exactly "open source" software means including F/OSS, Free Open Source Software, and a bit of background on the Ubuntu project itself.Some might skip that chapter but since that was exactly some of the info I was looking for, it was very helpful. . .except, "stop apolozgizing for writing such a great book!"At least three if not four times in the first chapter, the phrase, "If you've made it this far. . . " or "If you are still reading this. . . " was used.Hey guys, you did a great job, no need to apologize.I mean why else would someone buy this book rather than download it for free? ;-)

Excel 2003 Formulas
Great book!!Well written--very clear content.Assumes you have some background but it also starts with good basic information.Goes into real detail. Definitely recommend for serious Excel.

I found the book very handy and intuitive. An excelent choice, especially if you are a beginner and you need to improve your skills

Okay, but no cigar
Typically these technical how-to books are badly written and rushed to print and I found this one to be no exception.Although it offers some helpful hints not found in other Excel guides, it is rather wordy and vague in places. Some of the sample formulas simply do not work or else are not explained fully in context.Added to this, the accompanying CD skimps on the first four chapters, making it impossible to follow along on some the exercises the author provides. In some cases, he doesn't even provide a sample table.I went out and bought a copy of Microsoft's Excel Data Analysis and Business Modeling and find this to be better written, much more comprehensive, and easier on the wallet. ... Included lab is !@#$!$#@! Shame on Boson!
The books are good, and the tests are closer to anything on the CCNA test, although I did notice some of the simulations were buggy with incorrect answers, but Boson should be slapped HARD for including the hamstrung Router Sim LE version.The help does not work.The web connect interface does not work. 2/3rds of the labs are disabled and the ones that work have 2/3rds of the IOS commands disabled. This is meant to prod you into buying the "Full upgrade", at a cost of well over $150.That is quite lame.In addition, the internet scut on Boson is that the Full version also is very buggy and not worth even half the cost charged.The Cisco Academy in San Jose is very outraged at Boson for its poor quality.Ask anyone there.

Amazing book
It is a great book which covers all topics in order to pass the CCNA exam. You have the router and switch simulator to improve and apply your skills.
