1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless
I agree with the other posting. I was hoping to leverage all SBA features as well as vaildate I was using the product correctly. This book was so incredibly basic it ceased to be of any value whatsoever. I am sending it back for a refund. Don't waste your money. Wait for a more advanced guide writen by a CPA or at least someone who understands business or accounting, not a part-time freelancer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless
The book is just a rehash of the User's Guide. It covers exactly the same topics with just a few extra words. It did not answer any industry specific questions that I could tell.Don't bother with this one. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars nice read but not sufficiently hands on
At first, i was enthoused by the uplifting style in which the book is written. That is an asset in itselft as it contributes to giving you a positive attitude. But once you have finished the book and try to elaborate some plan to implement some long term goals, you reckon that there is no specific help on how to define short term goals which is in essence the most important message of the book. It is apparent that the autors have extensive experience sport psychology and i think the book is actually more helpful if you are into weight lifting than into trading as it is somewhat more difficult to formulate goals that relate to emotional issues than easily measurable results in sports (power, speed etc.) and fixing short term monetary goals is counterproductive as the book states itself as the most important thing in trading is consistency. So there is no information on how to put the ideas into practise which considerabely decreases the practical value of the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Light reading
Buy Elder's trading for a living. This book is so light that I read it in one night and listed it on Amazon to sell the next day.

2-0 out of 5 stars The concept is okay. The book is not.
I did have great expectation on this book. I had been quite disappointed. Instead of elaborating on the similarities for playing pro sports and trading, it's more like a business management book emphasizing on setting achievable, strategic, measurable, controllable, flexible and positive goals of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly time span. I am not kidding. The authors did put tables of the above goals for you to fill in te blank. Though the authors also had chapters on motivation, concentration, pressure handling, routine setting, loss handling stuff but the coverage of them, in my opinion as a veteran trader and frequent trading book lover, were far from sufficient and sophisticated to help traders to turn themselves into a pro athlete and win this highly competitive game. The analogy is brilliant, but is only limited to the title. The content is not. It's just like reading one of those common psychology or life management books. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars To be considered a 'gem' in relation to its price.
I decided to give this book a chance in providing me essentialelements of a typical intraday technical trading system. Sure I wasn't expecting a copy-paste daytrade system that suits everyone.. if there ever was one...
4-0 out of 5 stars Decent book
This is not your ordinary trading book, but one that teaches some real "usable" techniques. The book is broken up into chapters written by different people, so the tone of voice will change frequently. The prize of this book is the Seleznov breakout method, which anyone can use to trade profitably for life. That alone is worth thousands of times the price of this book. I'd recommend this for any serious amateur/semi-pro level short term trader who may be lacking a consistent trading system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strategies you can use
I have read many "trading" books, and find this one a pleasant suprise. Section Two includes a good source of trading strategies that work, each one written by people who actually trade. Strategies covered include 1) pure price action by Gary Smith, 2) breakouts by Mark Seleznov, 3) seasonals by Steve Moore, et.al., 4) patterns by Mark Etzkorn, 4) springs and upthrusts by Hank Pruden, 5) Bow Tie patterns by Dave Landry, and a few others.Read more

I wish I'd known when I bought this that it is exclusively for Windows users.Even though my version of Quicken is 2006 for mac, you'd think, by the way this book reads, that there is no such thing!Be warned!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent

5-0 out of 5 stars Good guide for first-time users
I really like this book. The author seems to be unbiased in her opinions, and has experience in writing many of these kinds of (technical/software) books. She uses her real-life examples to help explain different aspects of the program, and uses humor to keep the reading interesting.I am a first-time user of Quicken, but I found the book very helpful and I would recommend it to new Quicken users. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Online Marketing Success Stories: Insider Secrets from the Experts Who are Making Millions on the Internet Today
Online Marketing Success Stories: Insider Secrets from the Experts Who are Making Millions on the Internet Today by Rene V. Richards, published by Atlantic Publishing Group, Inc.
3-0 out of 5 stars Very general and not very useful
First off, I will say I did not read this book cover to cover.I read probably 75% of it, all in one afternoon. The first half to three quarters of the book are a collection of personal stories of people that have had success with their online businesses. As I was reading through these stories, they started sounding the same."I was poor growing up, knew nothing about computers, then I found these people that hooked me up with an idea or helped me in some way (sales pitch feeling here).Add a lot of hard work, determination and customer service and i'm a big success!"And that's it - no helpful tips or tricks in these stories. I plan to start a serious online retail business and there was one story that could have been helpful to me had it devulged some detail, but no such luck.None of them listed out the steps they took to launch their business...that would have been helpful!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginners' reference
This book mixes useful online information with engaging presentation to produce an effective, tried and true, how to book.Interesting and candid case studies of winning online businesses illustrate the journey from idea to success in layman's terms. The reader is invited to check out a wealth of website information online for the businesses profiled.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful if you must use SAS
Programming in SAS is soul destroying, and being chained to SAS is equivalent to being on Devil's Island, but it has turned into a lunatic asylum. Add to that the fact that you are trying to deliver financial analysis or support trading strategies, risk management, or option pricing, and you have a recipe for succumbing to insanity.
4-0 out of 5 stars Read-to-use SAS code in financial research
SAS, like income tax and Microsoft Office, is a necessary evil in the daily existence of a well-educated but poor white-collar worker such as myself.I've used SAS for many years and I'm a fairly good programmer (though not a profesional one0, but I still get frustrated over SAS all the time. The way the data steps work just kills my imagination and motivation. 3-0 out of 5 stars very helpful supplement
I bought this book hoping that it would be a single reference for all QB06 matters, including the Premier Edition(s) features.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the Most Complete Referrence Manual Available
QuickBooks has become a winner in the accounting system software race. As the revisions have gone by, the software has gotten more and more complete (notice I didn't say complex - although that's true also). As the software will do more, so needs the manual to grow with it. This one has grown to 656 pages. It incorporates just about everything there is to do in any QuickBooks version. It is really concentrated about the Accountant Edition which includes just about all the features included in any of the industry specific versions and the Premier editions.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Resource
This book is absolutely amazing, for users and especially for accountants. There is information that's not in any other reference source, and so many tips and workarounds that I keep this book right next to my keyboard. As an accountant, I've used the information in this book many times, and my clients think I'm a Quickbooks genius. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much use for me.
I bought it and not much to learn from it. It would not improve my bottom line, This is my opinion.
1-0 out of 5 stars Much overrated!
I had read Douglas's Trading in the Zone before. I had a very high expectation on this one. However, I was very disappointed. 3-0 out of 5 stars Not his best...
I personally admire Dr. Kiev's work and contribution to daily psychology. However I would suggest any trader - or any other person, for that matter - to read and apply the ideas in his " Daily Living Strategy". His goal-based approach is what I live on, and I certainly understand the positive comments made by his clients, but I think the reviews are concerning the book + the counselling they took personally from Dr. Kiev. By itself, the book is not complete. It is helpful, and it certainly adresses several important issues, but it doesn't go deep. Also, it is a product of Dr. Kiev's work with the professional traders working in huge trading firms or departments, and as such, addresses the problems and solutions that can be found in such settings. Even the trading methodology Dr. Kiev seems to advocate sounds very institutional: he is talking about how to get real info from analysts that call you up. Well, being a full time trader who strikes on his own, that didn't help me. Again I recommend buyiing his now-classic book, the Daily Living Strategy, and apply it to whatever it is you want to achieve in your life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Data, data and more data - all well organized
While ETFs are increasing in popularity, there are few objective sources of analysis. Look no further than Morningstar's book. In a comprehensive, well-organized manner, the book provides you with information about the largest and most actively traded ETFs. The first part of the book provides an overview of ETFs and comparisons with traditional mutual funds (no new earth shattering information can be gleaned from this part if you are familiar with ETFs already). The main component of the book is a series of 1 page report for each ETF providing data on performance, style, holdings, and their analysts "take" on that ETF, among other data. The third part provides detailed tables on past performance of these ETFs and provides rankings. The book also includes a 2 week research "pass" to their ETF website.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Do you know how to set up Quicken to fit your needs? If you don't, then this book is for you! Author Bonnie Biafore, has done an outstanding job of writing a practical guide that explains Quicken 2006's basic features and answers questions you're likely to have, that can't be answered by the program.
4-0 out of 5 stars Mac Users BEWARE!!
I was all excited about this book -- it sounded like just what I needed to learn Quicken. I started to read it and on page 10 I read: "This book covers the Windows version of Quicken. The program's development for Mac was completely separate-- and different--from the ground up. Accordingly, Quicken differs significantly on the two platforms." I was VERY disappointed. Nowhere in the Amazon description of this book does it mention that it is written for Windows users. Granted Mac users can probably get something out of it, but beware of what you are buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Missing Manual
Just as the cover says, "The Missing Manual," and "Exactly what you need to get started."Bonnie Biafore's book is a 'techie' manual that is informative and entertaining. It's even loaded with accounting and investing information that any average hard worker can understand.

Editorial Review

Most of us have been conditioned to approach the stock market as a long-term proposition. Many of the bestselling investment books coach readers to seek value in the best companies for long periods of time. Day trading, a recent phenomenon brought on by the reform of the financial markets and by the growth of online trading, goes in just the opposite direction. Instead of buying and holding stocks for years, successful day traders make money by dipping in and out of the market in a matter of minutes, finding profit in the tiny fractions between the bid and asking price of a stock or by catching the ups and downs of stock prices, which are driven by everything including the latest news from CNBC or speculation on what Alan Greenspan ate for breakfast. 3-0 out of 5 stars Another book with old strategies, however....
There are some good ideas that you can rescue from this book. Therefore I think you should buy it since you can make much more money and certainly recoup your small investment if you employ 2 o 3 good tips.
1-0 out of 5 stars What became of Broadway Trading, LLC??
They went bankrupt, which is where you would be if you followed West and Friedfertig's methods. The book was a copy of Jack Schwager's Market Wizards series, due to the interviews conducted with "traders". You would be amazed if you saw some of these people and didnt read their words in print. Somehow they would not come off so sharp. Trust me!1-0 out of 5 stars Obsolete
This book completely fails to realistically convey the relative risks and profit potential for the average wannabe day trader.Im talking about someone with less than a few thousand to play the market.Unless you have big bucks and Level II quotes forget day trading unless you are very lucky. In the trading parlance, I wish I had a short position on this book at its current price, and could cover my short at the current used price! Save your money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars IPO - The Greatest Legal Creation of Wealth ...
I first decided to check out this book after having read Kiyosaki's Rich Dad's Guide to Investing. In his book, Kiyosaki touched on being the Ultimate Investor i.e. the selling investor, the kind of investor who putstogether businesses that the public crave for and would pay a premium for.The IPO is the Holy Grail for those want to make it big. In the words of aventure capitalist, the IPO vehicle is "The Greatest Legal Creation ofWealth in the History of the Planet".5-0 out of 5 stars An exceptionally useful and detailed book.
This is the perfect starting book for young men and women thinking about getting involved with startups, even if as employees. An ideal book for use in the classroom.Going Public is not superficial; it probes deeplyinto SEC rules and regulations and explains in considerable detail thefinancial quagmire of the first few years.Probably the best text on thesubject.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Q&A book
This is a great guide to support your CISSP prep.3-0 out of 5 stars The Total Cissp Exam Prep Book
There is some merit in reviewing this book before testing, but you would think that with all the contributors (9 being CISSPs), that the answers on the sample exam would be correct. Two of the first 100 questions (#67 and #97) of the sample exam are wrong and a handful of others were borderline. Even though they may have quoted other sources, being a CISSP, the authors should have known difference.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for those who already know the basics
Full Disclosure:I've worked with all of the contributing authors of this book and consider them friends of mine.I also consider each of them consummate professionals who truly know their stuff.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Serious Momentum with Microsoft
I had the privilege in attending a "Partnering with Microsoft" presentation and I am reading Ted Dinsmore's book now. Since the meeting with Ted Dinsmore, our organization is adopting many of the techniques revealed in his book and our corporation now has serious momentum with Microsoft. I highly recommend reading the book, and if the opportunity arises to meet Ted, don't miss it.

5-0 out of 5 stars DANCING WITH MICROSOFT
Within 21 years of becoming the most powerful company therein, Microsoft has ascended to the pinnacle of the IT industry. Authors by Ted Dinsmore and Edward O'Connor have done an outstanding job of telling the readership of this book, how by virtue of its own commitment of partnering with other firms, Microsoft has done so to an extent unparalleled by other large companies in the industry.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Inside Scoop on Working with Microsoft
A great many companies want to use computers in their business to do something a little bit different than what the programmers originally thought. Many companies do not want to invest, perhaps they cannot invest in their own IT department to understand and develop exactly what they need.

5-0 out of 5 stars User Friendly Workbook
Although I have been a Peachtree user for 15+ years, it was with Peachtree Complete (for DOS in a windows format). In the fall of 2005, I started making the switch to Peachtree for Windows, using Peachtree Premium 2006.While the basics of accounting in Peachtree were the same, the process used in the newer software was different and some things totally new.The Peachtree manual was of some help, but "Learn Peachtree Accounting" was REALLY helpful. This workbook is written in an easy-to-follow format. The author also gives helpful tips, along the way. This book is especially helpful for the first-time Peachtree user. She takes you through a well-organized, three-month process, step-by-step, making the transition from your current accounting system to the Peachtree software.Great for anyone in accounting.(Only drawback is that it covers versions through 2002; Peachtree is currently selling 2006.However, the majority of the information still applies to the newer releases of the software.) ...
