3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but can't stand on its own.
This can be a good supplement to "Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2" by Sierra and Bates.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too many typos
Too many typos in the practice exams (such as the upper-case 'I' in question 15 of Exam 1) make this a risky choice for the exam. You certainly don't need confusion when trying to study for this exam. The content is good though and it seems to targetthe necessary concepts.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time and Money
This is the worst certification book ever written. When I read the book, I did not feel confident that these were the actual questions that I would see on the exam.I also did not learn anything from the book.I stopped reading this book, and went on to read Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates' Java 2 Certification book. That is much, much better, and it is written by the exam writers themselves. The questions are more like what is on the exam, and I am actually learning Java concepts that I never knew. The cram exam book is a waste of money, and more importantly, a waste of time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book For Learning Trading Methods
Cybernetic Trading Strategies: Developing a Profitable Trading System with State-of-the-Art Technologies, is the best book I have read to date, this book is filled with any type of information a trader is looking for.I highly recommend this book.I have read other books from this author and am very impressed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Verbose
I found this book throughly boring, filled with trying to computerize and mathematically analyze everything rather than working on simple rules and setups. This would be most beneficial to a backtest programmer/trader in learning the process of system development. As a whole, most traders will learn little usable (or new) information from this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars An average overview.
I like this book because it is easy to read, it is short and has a good overview of morden methods for stock and commodity trading.Unfortunately author does not give any essential details or any mathematical justification for advanced method like MEM or Chaos and others except for emotions "how wonderful it is" with additional references to other sources that of course, cost money. So I find it difficult to use this book "to develop a profitable system with a state of the art technologies" because it does not have crucial details and therefore I put 3 star for my failed expectations.I recommend this book as an overview only. ... Either you can bumble around trying to locate MS Money 2005 Deluxe features via complex pulldown menus or online help, or you can buy this book and learn quickly and easily how to navigate and understand the entire program.
3-0 out of 5 stars NOT for Business Money 2005
I bought this book to go with the Business version of Money 2005. When I opened up the package from Amazon, I was disappointed to find that this book does not cover Business Money. Now, I've got to go through the hassle of packaging it back up for a refund. Thought I'd spare you the same experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars From Railways to Internet Portals - Great Investment History
In it's simplest form, the book recounts the origins of the late '90s speculation from unrealistic expectations to corruption. One of the many examples is that mutual fund's results (as reported by highly recognized organizations as Moningstar and others) is always "pre-tax" (i.e. non-capital gains after-tax) which tends to favor a money manager to speculate and also tends to imply that the individual will receive those returns.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book

5-0 out of 5 stars Concise, impartial and extremely knowledgeable.
It was already some time I wished to read this essay, both out of interest for the argument and because of the fame of Lowenstein as a very conscientious journalist.

5-0 out of 5 stars It was fast !!!!
This is a good seller!!! It was fast and the book arrived in perfect conditions.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Tailored for Mac Users
This book has been a bit of a disappointment since all of the screen shots and commands are from the Microsoft Windows version of Quicken.I have discovered several features and commands that are not included in the Mac software that I own.Hopefully Quicken will correct this deficiency in future editions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference
This book is a must have whether you are new to Quicken or already a Quicken owner. The extra tips and new sidebars are worth reading. Quicken has so many features, you need a guide to truly get the most out of your software. Whould you know that Quicken Dexlue and Premiere come with a Household organizer and Emergency forms without the book? You don't have to read cover to cover, you can reference the sections covering the differing financial centers. I bought last year's edition and when upgrading for 2005, this was a must read. If you have Quicken or are considering purchasing, this book should be read. Maria covers all features in an easy to read format, and the screen shots are very helpful. The Dummies editions for Quicken can't compare. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A reference book rather than teaching guide
I have an MBA in Managerial Economics and was looking for areview in financial math w/ Excel illustrations. I purchased this book and returned it because it is poorly written and/or a reference book for someone who already knows the material rather than a teaching guide. Another book which appears more suitable for my purposes is 'Finance Guide With Formulated Solutions for Excel' by Roger Bennitt.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly done
I was looking for a book that would help me brush up on my financial math and this does not do the job. Day does a poor job of explaining the material, and furthermore, his CD is poorly done. He does not enter most of the formulas, but rather he hard coats his numbers. This makes it just about impossible to follow what he is talking about in his book as the reader must somehow come up with the formulas that he is describing on his own. Day does a great job of protecting his models from being copied as no one would want to recreate the formulas he is using, but in doing so, he prevents the reader from learning. If you are looking for a good book on financial mathematics, this is not it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Overview
Gives a good overview of PeopleSoft.I read this in just a few days and was up and running with the basics. It's a small and easy to read book.Step by step instruction with lots of visuals/screenshots.A little outdated but the core basics are the same. I would highly recommend this for someone new to PeopleSoft or who is interviewing for a PeopleSoft related position. It will give you just the facts you need to impress your boss!
1-0 out of 5 stars Complaint
You told me you credited my credit care and your system is telling me that I bought the above book. Which one is which?4-0 out of 5 stars If PeopleSoft were this easy, we would be out of a job
I actually found this book to be quite simple and straight forward.Although, it really is not for the ultra-techinical person, it is a great overview of PeopleSoft and HRMS in particular.I found its chapters onusing the Query tool to be excellent for a beginner and a great refresherfor an experienced PeopleSoft user.If you are looking for a book thatwill prepare you for class and as a quick reference, this is more thanadequate, but if you are looking for a book that is going to teach you theintricate workings of PeopleSoft, this is not it.At my current place ofemployment, this is a hot book because the chapters are straight forward, short, and written in a very simple style. The only reason why this bookwill not get five stars is because it really does not delve into otherreporting tools used with PeopleSoft, particularly SQR. Compared to otherbooks on the market, if you were introducing someone to 'What isPeopleSoft' this would be the book I would give them first! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Read it, but You will need more specific strategies
This book is ok for a trader that needs to start from scratch. But you will be needing more specific trading strategies.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
This book was a waste of money. It's meant for beginners that aren't familiar with the terms and concepts of stock trading in general. If you don't already know these terms or the basic concepts you shouldn't attempt to day trade. If you do know these terms and concepts, then this book is a waste. The day traders survival guide is a much better intro book and I highly recommend it over this one.Other recommended trading books to start you off are High Probability Trading by Marcel Link and Trading for a Living by Alexander Elder.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for explaning the nuts and bolts of day trading
I wanted a book that would take me step by step through all the technical day trader jargon and explain what all of it meant. Getting Started in Online Day Trading by Kassandra Bentley was just what the doctor, or in this case, the beginning day trader ordered. She takes a very solid approach to explaining what the stock market is all about, what day trading is all about, the procedures of doing day trading and the pitfalls of day trading. She is not shy in pointing out other books in order to gather good day trading information. This shows that she is very open to learning herself. Her book does a good job of not assuming that the reader already knows all about day traderese. There are plenty of sidebar notes that refer to terms and phrases within each chapter. This is a very good way of reinforcing what your have just read. One specific area that was very clear in explaination are the terms bid and ask. While other books use these terms almost interchangably and do not explain correctly who is the buyer and who is the seller, she does an excellent job of clarification on this subject. This point is probably obvious to old pros, but her insight that a beginner is not savy to these nuiances is good thinking on her part. She also goes into some detail on charting and day trading methodology, but not too much in depth. If anything, this was the only negative about this book. However, after reading other books on day trading, I believe that this book is the most straight forward and understandable of all of them. The book is well thought out and very concise. ... Frankly, I'm surprised that this book made it to publication. It has too many shortcomings. I'll cover one.
3-0 out of 5 stars Audit and Control
I use this book as the basic text in my university course on computer auditing for CA's (CPA's to you south of the 49th) because it is the best text out of a bad lot.At times, Hall is concise and to the point. On occasion, for example in ch's 8 and 9 when he describes the audit of a receivables and a payables systems, his advice is detailed and valuable. Most of the time, though, he wanders into side issues in too much depth, ignores the concepts of risk and control, provides superficial advice and examples on CAAT's (despite the inclusion of the ACL disk, which, although stripped down, is worth the price of admission) and is just too thin on practical discussions of auditing in an EDP environment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the read!
Geoffrey Moore's latest book should be required reading for all executives in the age of the Internet. Rather than filling out a theoretically weak book with numerous examples, or building a detailed theory which cannot beapplied, Moore has produced a brilliant work of practical business theory.Drawing on and extending his work in Crossing the Chasm, Inside theTornado, and The Gorilla Game, Moore looks at various stages in thedevelopment of businesses, how to manage for shareholder value, how tocreate and sustain competitive advantage, and how companies with diversecultures can effectively overcome the innovator's dilemma. 1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon doesnt have this book and did not deliver after 2 months too!
I have tried to buy this book from Amazon. When buying it says it will ship in 2-3 weeks, but even after two months Amazon keeps mailing that it would still be delayed by a month. Be careful while buying this book from amazon, as in my case the purpose is finshed before i even got the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Might be ok but...
I bought this book because I was trying to teach myself enough to become a Financials Developer. This still MIGHT be the right book for me.However, this is not a step by step guide to the installation. In addition, the book assumes some familiarity with accounting systems.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's not a handbook, just an brief overview
We should appreciate that this is the first book published on market talking about Oracle Financials. However, this is the book that contains only general introduction. It doesn't have any detail information either for functional users or technical persons. As an Oracle Financial developer with many years of experience, I don't get any useful information out of it.May be it's good for somebody who don't know Oracle Financials at all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars No post 9-11 stuff, but still cool
just bought my second copy as a gift to a client5-0 out of 5 stars cool for the novice
it was worth the money for this book because I now know not to believe the hype when searching for a proper offshore location country - helps you figure out what makes a place a suitable offshore site

5-0 out of 5 stars a useful text
This is a great book - I would give a hint to potential buyers that I have seen this rather pricey good paperback seller over at Amazon.co.uk cheaper than at Amazon.com (via Amazon Marketplace), and it appears to be internationally available. Good hunting (for the book)...and then good hunting for a tax haven! ... Read more
